On the job: OOC Chat

I think Kesslan got slammed at work. His post rate has been a little low for his normal over the past week or so.

Not just work. I'm very close to having to take my Army Fitness test as well.

As for this game *shrugs* So many people dropped off for various reasons that I pretty much gave up on it.

Not again! Why won't On the Job stick?

If there is still enough interest I'm willing to keep it gong from where we left off. It seems a few people are back now

So it's been almost a week and so far only Gala has expressed interest in keeping the game going? If anyone else is speak up now, you've got one more week (I'll be out of town for a little while soon).

If there's no further interest I'll kill off this game and build a new one and see if it lasts any longer.

Ok well it's been three weeks and only two interested folk.

As you might imagine I'm going to just scrap this particular game (again).

As this one's not working out either I'll try and think up something else.

Gala, Present, you guys still interested in continuing? If so you can just keep your chars as is (With a bit of bonus Karma for having stuck around and for the posts you've already done thus far). If so I'll throw up another recruitment thread and we can reboot things with a clean slate. Would be far easier to do that then drop people into the middle of things at this point.

Yeah, that would be fine with me. I might tweak my techno to be more battle-ready now that I've had more chargen experience.

Just so you guys know there's no huge rush yet. Since there is the interest I'll restart the game but right now I'm in the process of changing departments and having to train replacements etc as my department is already short staffed.

This means I'm not going to have the time right now to set things up, expect a delay of about 3-4 weeks.

Just as a note: you can not aveba specialisation on a skill that is part of a skill group. Once you put on a specilization you break the skill group and may not group the skills again. Typically breaking a skill group like this is also not allowed in CG

What this means is if you want the specialty you need to break the skill group (but you still have al weapon skills in that group at 3)

I'm a little confused with how you want us to treat skill groups, as well, Kesslan. Are you saying that we have to pay just for the specialization, but the group is now broken, or are you saying that we have to pay for all of the skills in the group at rating 3 minus the cost of the skill group? For example, if I wanted to specialize my Pistols skill that is part of the Firearms skill group that I already have, do I have to pay just 2 BP or do I have to pay [Pistols 3 (12) + HP Spec (2) + Automatics 3 (12) + Longarms 3 (12) - Firearms Group 3 (30)] = 8 BP? Or did you have something completely different in mind?

The house rule simply allows you to buy the group as normal, and then break it while still in CG. Doing so is not normally allowed.

I made a mistake initially, but when I reread the rules, I believe it goes like this:

If you have Firearms Group at 3, for example, and you want to specialize in Heavy Pistols.
All you purchase is the specialization of 2 BP, but you now have each skill individually instead of a group.

Yeah that's what I figured, I was a little confused myself. I'm glad you have presented an investigator because my character was stretching himself to fill a few to many roles.
