| Hello all. Looking forward to gaming with everyone. I'm a long time Shadowrun player, played since 1st edition. Love the game and setting. | |

| Seven hits on my negotiation roll. With twelve dice. I think that was a good roll. | |

| Yes, it was. THe opposed test took a good chunk out of it though you still came slightly ahead. Keep in mind though you can only bargain stuff for the animals so far as the place simply isn't setup to accommodate them. You could of course always try to find a safehouse that would actually cater to such exotic creatures but they would be extremely rare. | |

| Hey all - as for Mississippi - he's a generalist (part face. part sam, and even a few hack tricks, though only enough to grab some data, not pry it out of the claws of something matrix nasty).
As for playing Shadowrun, first exposure to Shadowrun was the Sega Genesis game, and then the Super Nintendo game. Never got into the RPG proper until 3rd edition. Played it and 4th, though my friends I game with have been playing since first. Good stuff!

| Hello Yogismith and Mikel. Yes Kesslan, I'm aware that the place is not equipped to shelter animals. They are only part of the negotiation, anyway. 25000 per week is steep I think. Even for the whole group. If it weren't for the girls, Darkon would be willing to work for their stay. But at the moment he really has no intention to distract himself from rescuing them. Also, they will need the money they have for other things. Travel, new SINS, and the like. And maybe some equipment. That said, Darkon tries to lower the price at least some. As to what the animals need, I will wait for Galas response. She will know best. | |

| Right but what you brought up for negotiation was the matter of the animals which is why his counter offer is to try and find suitable food for them as part of the fee. The fees are based off of the new lifestyle rules for safehouses that was released in a recent book. (that said I have allowed for some wiggle Room) | |

| Well I have also mentioned limited ressources. Although described more poetically. Anyway, I don't think we can stay any longer than a few days. One week max. Or we run out of funds to do anything useful else. But let's see... one day to get a working lodge of minimal strength, then to find the girls... freeing them. (Or die trying. ) and then we can come to the matter of that insect statue. Or at least that's the plan in Darkons mind at the moment. Although I'd prefer him not dieing. | |

| I think what Kesslan is getting at, and I may be wrong, is that if you had come out with a direct counter offer of say 2500 a day or 18k for the week with a bit extra for the animal food the result might have been better.
Just my observation or 2 cents however one looks at it.

| To sum up, you mentioned limited resources, where uppon Chan opened up the possibility of the team doing a favour or two in exchange (be it for a lower rate or for the whole stay. The concept being the less you pay in cash the bigger/more favours you owe). That got rejected and the matter of the animals came up so he opened up the possibility of trying to provide food for the animals as well. That said animals have specialised diets in some cases. (especially tigers)
When you asked for a more quiet place you simply asked for something he is unable to provide at his setup.
Right now his sole benefit out of helping you is a small profit margin on the actual cost of running the safehouse. You can try and talk him down some without giving up much but you would need more net hits than you presently have managed. (keep in mind your doing an open test and there are modifiers in play).
So far you've come out on top in the last two rounds but you haven't socially crushed him in negotiations, so he's trying to offer reasonable comporimises without giving up too much of his margin. Your more than welcome to push for more consessions if you like but it needs to be clear what your asking for.

| I did not notice him offering us to work for him... at a later time, that would be a reasonable offer. No wait. Darkon said he would keep this an option if he had the time to do it. Anyway. About the quiet room, I see how it is not possible. Personally, I think 25000 a week is a whole lot of money. But I don't know the book you used, so I can't tell for sure. Darkon doesn't want to rush Chen. After all, he might have use for the old gnome in the future. And crushing him now might make further business impossible. Anyway, you are the GM. And I did not intend to sound nagging. My apologies. The price is steep, but affordable. For now. | |

| Safe houses are fairly expensive compared to normal lifestyles. That said this one is on the slightly higher scale due to the fact that it offers a number of possible services. You could always make a social test to try and convince him to refer you somewhere cheaper and quieter, but keep in mind a cheaper place won't have many of the services this place offers (or simply not to the same extent).
Specifically this place offers: The possible use of a runner who can get you most gear, drugs, ammo etc at a markup while keeping you under the radar. A forger that can make you Fake SINs and lisences. A fully stocked 'bar' (booze and drugs included) Vehicle storage A legitimate business front (a few others that I can't recall)
As a downside: It's affiliated with the Yakuza It's noisy It has a few less amnities/entertainment than some places.
You could certainly cut out a lot if you wanted to by finding another place to hold up.
As to the rules they are found in the safehouses book.

| That said I don't think of it as nagging. I simply hold players to actually negotiating either in IC or at least giving me an OOC list of what they are after and doin some rolls behind the scenes.
As a note; I reward RPing it out (well) with possible contacts and other small perks (like karma for good RP)

As a note; I reward RPing it out (well) with possible contacts and other small perks (like karma for good RP) I did try to RP some of the negotiation. But I didn't have much momentum at the time. After a 13 hour workday, I usually don't. Hm... Darkon at least doesn't need booze or drugs. The runner might come in handy. Car storage too. And the place was what came to mind after Darkon used his knowledge skill. By the way, you said it was triads, not yakuza. Not that it makes much difference. For now we do have the money. And if we run out of money, there will be some opportunity to get more. (Yes, I'm an optimist. ) Additionally, this place has charm. I kind of like it.

| Sorry, the yakuza thing crossed wires from one of the new PCs contacts.
Anyway, yes; if you follow some of the leads I already provided there is potential for money (as well as if you guys decide to do 'side jobs'). The Troll for example was one such lead that hasn't even been looked at by anyone despite it being mentioned a few times.

| The troll? Oh yes. Our timeline only has evolved a few hours since the meeting in the warehouse and the Thorstrike. After which we had decided to take a few hours to recover, and then to go to that troll in the morning. But before we could, something happened to the house. What was it again? Oh right. It blew up! Well not really blew up, but the effect is the same. Right now Darkon is negotiating with a chinese gnome for a place to sleep. To conclude, once the GM actually gives us some time to follow leads, we will. ------- http://www.shadowrunonlinepbp.com/viewtopic.forum?t=962 | |
