Question. I have a ton of things I want to look up. Should I post them all or once at a time?

All at once would be a good idea, that way we can get it done faster.

Slow weekend for me.... I'm going to make a super short post, just to get me out of the way so people can post around me... but I will be back in earnest on sunday.

Something I forgot to mention: I need you all to keep a separate section in your character sheet to keep track of the following:

1. How much Karma you've earned
2. How you've spent it
3. How much money you've earned
4. How you've spent it

That way I have a full accounting of your upgrades.

I've got a suggestion

With my hacking activities, and stuff that will take forever, is it alright if I put a time-stamp at the beginning of my post just so people know that my character is a little bit ahead in time?

That way I don't accidentally tell people that I've found stuff out on hour 2 when I actually did on hour 5...

Also.. I started searching at, like, what, 10:45 am?

Just some clarification on exactly what the Radar Sensor headware is and does:

(augmentation, page 36)

This device emits ultrawideband and terahertz
radar in short stepped-frequency pulses. An expert system
analyzes the Doppler shift in the bounced signals and converts
the information into a three-dimensional “map” that overlays
(or replaces) the user’s visual senses, similar in some ways to ultrasound.
The advantage to the radar sensor is that it can “see”
through walls and other materials, which appear as translucent.
This system is excellent for detecting motion (even as slight as
breathing), calculating exact distances, and allowing the character
to visualize floorplans, locations of people, and placement
of materials like weapons. It is unaffected by visual tricks like
camouflage and Invisibility spells. It is unable to ascertain colors,
lighting, or other visual features.

The radar sensor uses the same Visibility modifiers as ultrasound.
It can penetrate its rating x 5 of cumulative barrier Structure
ratings (see p. 157, SR4). For example, a Rating 2 radar sensor
could “see through” two Structure rating 5 walls. It can be used
to detect weapons and cyberware on a person in the same way as
millimeter wave radar (p. 255, SR4). Radar sensor cyberware has
an effective Signal rating of 2 for determining the sensor’s range.
Radar sensors are vulnerable to jammers and jamming.

Leon's is a rating 3 model

In considering the effects of a Radar Map Overlay (or side-view, as you have Leon configuring it) I am thinking about how to apply it to the character, and the game world. I think that the "extra processing" cost on the character for paying attention to both what he sees, and the radar map, will impose an actions cost on the character. Perhaps something in the range of -2 for all actions, except perception tests, where a +2 for all visual perception tests.

As for Invisibility and the likes, keep in mind that most of the time people have opportunities to "see" the invisible person from secondary effects. Perception isn't about the "information" that passes into a person's head, usually. Most of the time, there is plenty of information. Perception usually refers to a persons capacity to sort the information in useful ways. Relative to Radar, I kept this in mind when I considered the above; that is, radar imposes a +2 bonus for all visual perception tests.

With Radar in mind, there are some really interesting ideas that would be fun to play around with. For instance, if the team had a rigger or hacker handy who could process the Radar on a more powerful system, analyze it for specific kinds of data, and highlight them, that would be an AWESOME team bonus. Also, with said rigger/hacker, they would then be able to relay the information to the eyeware of the entire team (contacts included, if they have imagelink), rather than just the person who has the radar.
I am enjoying thinking about the benefits of Radar. And will have to take some time tonight to look it up in the book to see about any sidebars and other potentially beneificial synergistic devices.
