Who said running the shadows was easy? Dodging bullets, swords, spirits, and spells just to name a few. Elves, Dwarves, Trolls, even the occasional Dragon can make any Shadowrun go bad.

Bending your sexual preference in the name of humor is always worth it.

But some of us are dysgraphic, which can be a pain when you love TT gaming. THAT'S why I'll use a generator if the option's there.

I'd have to agree with Ou and Gala on this one. Back when I used to play D&D, I could never find a chargen program that I liked, so I got used to designing my characters by hand.
Now its habitual, plus it does help get a better feel for the character, knowing the whys and wherefores of each bit of info on the character sheet.

Off topic conversations aside...

As someone who keeps track of my character creation in notepad, I think that everyone should know the mechanics behind it, the costs of things and rules involved.

That said, there's nothing wrong with an application that makes the bookkeeping easier. Character generators are just tools, that make our lives simpler, nothing more. One should know how the tool works of course, but it's silly to declare it wrong to use it. >_>

Speaking for myself, its an individual choice, of course. I prefer the 'notepad' approach, but by no means condemn anyone else for using a generator program.

To be honest, I want to understand the how of the system before using the generator. But sometimes, my way of checking to see if the costs on things is right is to just click something up once, which can occasionally lead to issues.
