Background
Leroy came to shadowrunning not from growing up in the Barrens or from having runner parents, though his parents did play a vital role in his choice of careers. His father, a Lone Star officer, became disgruntled about his job after Knight Errant took over the streets and corporate contracts in Seattle. After the Star became 'babysitters' as Leroy's father put it for prison inmates, he went on the take, accepting bribes and other compensations for working as a mule for certain key prisoners and their outside contacts.
Leroy's mother, a corporate exec, often spoke at dinner of the wheeling & dealing that went on at the office, and of the 'deniable assets' they used for some of the more 'shadowy' maneuverings.
Leroy, who loved his parents without question, took his parents' views and opinions as only just and true. So, as he grew older and began to learn a few things on his own, he saw that the only way to get ahead in this world was to take what you could however you could, never trust a corpse, and to deal well with those who could get you what you needed, be it intel, gear, a place to hole up, or a new ID when things went really wrong.
That was, until Leroy discovered his true talent.
It happened gradually at first; so unintrusive that Leroy couldn't say exactly when it started. He began to hear a sort of background hum, which he mistook for normal traffic/pedestrian/daytime noise. Over time, however, he noticed this hum sounded quite different than the hubbub of a typical day. As his ability to sense the hum matured, Leroy found he could 'hear' voices other than those of the people around him, and the hum became more and more like a vibration that seemed to suffuse his entire being, not just his ears.
Then Leroy realized what it was, and what he was. After this epiphany, he started spending more time surfing the streams, riding the digital waves, and submerging himself in the 'waters' of the Matrix. He adopted the alias 'Ahab' and was soon using his technomantic abilities in every day life, as well as on shadowruns, as both a security measure and method of 'upping his take.'
Having seen the trid reports on the 'Emergent' in Seattle, Leroy kept his talent hidden as much as possible, but secrets have a way of being revealed, and he finally needed to get out of Seattle to let things cool down.
So, here he is in Manhattan, looking to score a few good runs while he lets the heat die down... hoping he doesn't die as well in the process.
