GM's Start here.

Welcome GM's to Shadowrun Online. We were the biggiest Shadowrun PbP site on the internet while we were on MSN Groups. The way we got that way was because of you, the GM.

GMing on SRO is easy. You are the boss of your own thread. (See rules for more clarification)

First thing you should do is to set up your threads. All games should have 2. One gaming thread and one Out of Character (OOC) thread. For example....

The OOC thread is used for all out of character information, questions, or even just chat related to your game.

Be sure and post your game in the correct edition for the game room.

After you set up your threads post a want ad for runners in the Runners Needed section. Put a Classified ad out with the name of your game and a brief description of the first meet. I like to play out the first meet between each runner and the Mr. Johnson in this thread. When you have all runners you should post a closing of the thread by posting a Game in progress or something. Preferably in game, but make it stand out by changing color or something. After 7 days of inactivity, the Want ads post will auto prune so all gamers can see only the newest game ads.

After you've got your game running, some runners have joined, and things are humming along smoothly, speak with a Moderator or Admin on the site and ask them to review the game.
If the Moderator or Admin approves, the Admin can add you to the GM group.

Any GM that has an ongoing run can get a forum that they can moderate. Just ask and we will make a forum for you.

Make sure that you let me know that a story is finished. I want to archive all stories as we finish them.

Updated the GM rules to include asking for a forum to run the games in. The GM still creates threads in the game room, and then askes for the forum. The threads will be moved into the new forum for the GM.

The GM will also be added to the GM group and be given permission to moderate their threads.

This is a game site, I expect everyone who wants to try their hand at GM'ing to follow through with finishing their run. If somthing comes up where they can't finish the run or they will be away for more than a couple days, they should ask other GM's to fill in for them to keep the story going.

I hate it when a game stalls out, especially one that i am in. It is worse when it is due to a GM falling out because the story can't continue with out them.

FROM NOW ON I EXPECT ALL GM'S TO FINISH THEIR RUNS OR FIND ANOTHER GM TO FINISH IT FOR THEM! No more stalling runs.
