| Ok lee me preface this by saying that I am very fuzzy on technomancers.
can a 'mancer use their spontanious compiling of programs thingy to make activesofts, knowsofts anf linguisofts:

| You could use software to create a "technomancer" version of skillsoft...but spontanious compiling? "I" wouldnt allow it unless you got either some knowledge skill in what your doing or some reference for it since your not really using matrix skills but using matrix skills to make a skill thats related to non-matrix stuff
The matrix rules being really non specific about those things but certain part of "lore" in the books suggesting you can makes this a bit bogus.
So id say that you "could" do it.."if" you got a reference for the skill of some sort...lets say you have hours of footage of one of your teamate shooting with a pistol youd have enough reference to create a pistol active soft on the fly. If however your some techie kid that never left moms basement and plays Hello Kitty....yeah that wouldnt make sense

| Thanks for the input Sly, glad to see you're back and less depressed. I did find an answer to the question, its a multi step process: Step 1: become grade 1 submersed technomancer - Quote :
- Submersion
Submersion strengthens the link between the technomancer and the Resonance. Similar to an Awakened character’s initiation, submersion is a very personalized and ego-wrenching experience, a process of growth and awareness, a chance for the technomancer to better attune himself to the machine world. Submersion grants the technomancer greater abilities known as echoes, grants access to the mysterious Resonance realms hidden within the Matrix, and allows him to raise his Resonance attribute beyond its natural maximum of 6. Submersion is measured in grades, beginning with Grade 1 and increasing. Submersion has a Karma cost equal to 10 + (Grade x 3). A technomancer’s grade cannot exceed his Resonance attribute; if Resonance is ever reduced below the submersion grade, that level of submersion is lost. SR4A p. 243 Step 2: take biowire echo: - Quote :
- Biowire
By acquiring the Biowire echo, the technomancer receives the ability to modulate the neuroelectrical and neuromuscular network of his body such that it can work similarly to a skillwire cyberware system (p. 335, SR4). In game terms, it operates with a rating equal to the submersion grade of the technomancer. In all other regards, it follows the basic rules for skillwire systems. However, since technomancers are unable to process active skillsoft programs, they have to convert them into complex form–like programs to interpret and process them in their “language” by emulation (see [Unwired] p. 149). Unwired p.145 Step 3: emulate skillsofts: - Quote :
- Emulation
Technomancers with the Biowire echo can use threading to convert skillsofts (in storage accessible to the technomancer) into complex forms that their neuromuscular system can process. To set up the emulator, the technomancer makes a Threading (skillsoft rating) Test. If the program contains other program ratings, raise the threshold by the number of program options or rating points. If he succeeds, he has converted the program into a complex form. He can now either sustain the program as a normal threaded complex form of the same rating or memorize the skillsoft as a complex form by paying an amount of Karma equal to the rating (+1 for any program option or program option rating). Unwired p.149
My thought was to get around the astonomical cost of skillsoft, but it looks like you would need to still but the skillsoft and then emulate it to get it to work. Which makes sense because the ability to spontaniously thread ANY skill, even at rank 1, would be seriously overpowering.
