| Okay, I've been meaning to get the second chapter of the campaign going for a while now, and it seems like I'm finally going to have the time to do it. This next mission in a follow on to 'Parliament of thieves' run that was done back on the MSN groups/Multiply site... now what I want to find out is just how many of the original group are still about and paying attention ... and also if there's any other people who might be interested in joining a run... I've noticed that there are a few runs up already, and I'm more than happy to wait till after one of those is done if people have too much on their plates atm... So yes, if you're interested, post here with a really basic summary of the kind of character you're going to want to play (ie Hacker, Shaman, Samurai etc), and we'll see how many show up. I'll leave about a week for people to show up, and then we'll go from there. ~ Jonno | |

| Hey - I'm keen! I want to play as well. But in this run can we not have two of everything. Two Hackers, Two Riggers, starting to sound like Noahs Ark or something. | |

| heh, I feel ya.
Wr3ck is primarily a hacker, but he can also rig to a degree. Marcus/Sariel is a street-sam.
We had a face, but I haven't seen him post here since the move. There was also a Mage and a Phys-ad, but they don't seem to have made the move either. You'd remember the Phys-ad, Tani, it was that dark_(whaterstrangeformof"shadow") That was running with you in late last year, the one that went on a "two-week" vacation.

| Sounds good guys, I'm glad to see some of the old crew are still around... heh, it would be Sariel and Wreck wouldn't it... one more than a little psychotic, the other patently paranoid... a great mix ... Tani, you're more than welcome to play whatever. I really don't have any issues with people doubling up as I'm more than happy to put in some NPCs to round out the party so thing's will work. So yes, play what you want to play. I think the money was 5000 up front and 5000 on delivery. Even if it wasn't, that'll do. Try not to spend it all in one place Okay, we'll give it the rest of the week I said I'd wait to see if anyone else shows up. Other than that we'll start getting stuck into it. ~ Jonno | |

| Hey, the way I see it; Wr3ck was too busy with the vehicle/trix to notice the Marcus/Sariel change. That Akira guy on the other hand... He smacked of "crazy" right off the bat. You "played" him in a much more "toned-down" version than I think the actual player would have. | |

| Okay, from a player point of that sounds great... poor Wr3ck is going to be a nervous wreck by the end of the run I'm sure...
No pun intended... seriously...
I saw the sanity chart you put up in Sariel's char-bio when you posted him a while back. I thought that was great. Maybe we should do the same for Wr3ck's vindictive streak. ^)^ that could make things really interesting. | |

| Okay... looks like we've got all those who are going to show up... lets get things rolling...
Here's a little story to help you get in the mood... see you over in the official post.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Best Served Cold… is how de la Clos described revenge. HammerJack had spent the last seven years of his life trying to find the best way to eat that dish. Jaron Falcone had ruined his life. An easy run he said-- get in, grab the data and get out. The fixer never mentioned anything about another team, armed response from Knight Errant or a new weapon. It started out as a data extraction, his own team disabled the security forces while he peeled off layers of encryption and IC that would make running the core host of Deus look like a cake walk. Then everything went south. A second team showed up, moving with military precision.
The newcomers loaded a worm into the first computer they crossed and began a sweep through the complex. The worm was meant to bypass and shut off every piece of security in the host. Instead, it set off every alarm and unleashed tidal forces of IC. By the time HammerJack was able to get free of the security grid and jump to the next tier, the system had begun the process of self-corruption since the ports had been jammed wide open and shutdown was impossible. Smart-frames reported back to him that they were unable to get a clear readout from the security cameras and his radio frequencies had been jammed.
All he could do was wait for the end to come or cut his losses and run. The decker ran. He remembered fleeing for his life through a rabbit warren of hallways, cubicle farms and programming labs. When HammerJack finally got to the elevator shaft, the doors had been blown open and the zipping sounds of rappelling gear could be heard. Power was cut to the building except for emergency generators and the backup power supplies. A Knight Errant tactical squad had responded to the call since they were unable to raise any local security forces. Using their helmets’ night-vision, they moved through the near blackness without noticing. Within minutes, the team had subdued the facility, incapacitating the survivors of HammerJack’s team and the rogue team that had sought to poach their glory and paydata.
HammerJack was plugged back into the system at gunpoint, his deck removed from the link, it was his bare mind against the system. The KE team was under orders to plug any survivor who had a datajack into the black box. Psychotropic IC assaulted his mind even as their mage began laying down new programming and excising pieces that were non-compatible.
He woke up hours later at home in his own bed, not knowing how he got there. Falcone refused to return his calls. Word on the street had gotten out that his team had failed to bring back anything. HammerJack couldn’t remember his teammates contact info either. So he got dressed and decided it was probably best that he went to work. Pulling on clean clothes, he caught the subway over to Ares HQ in Bellevue and reported for work.
HammerJack, or Void as he sometimes called himself now, could remember the months of feeling like something was missing. Then he ran into a former teammate at a security checkpoint and everything began to click. Slowly and quietly, he began to see a street-doc who handled scorched victims. It was a grueling, painful process but he got his own life and memories back.
BEEP.
The hacker shook off his reverie. Far too many times recently he had gotten lost in the deeper recesses of his own mind and needed the reminders of where and when he was. His internal bio-monitor was connected to a smart-frame which monitored his condition. The frame would cause an external stimulus if he began daydreaming.
The stimulus wasn’t caused by the smart frame. This time, one of his agents had come back with some talk scooped freshly out of the Denver Nexus boards. Someone was hitting the ranch, Jaron’s ranch. If he played his cards right and swung the timing perfectly, it could work.
Now the only question was whether he’d use the nice china for this dish or a silver platter…

| as far as i know, we have two samurai and a hacker, so a face or a mage, (possibly both) would rock on toast. | |

| I can't really do the full Magician thing...Its too complicated and I have know clue how to bring all the aspects of a magician together to make it work. The best I can do is a adept Face. that is unless someone wants to teach me. | |

| well, anything an adept can do, a mage can do better. The draw back is, a lot of adept powers don't require the adept to make drain tests, where as a mage has to check everytime. If it's too complicated, you could aspect yourself as either a sorcerer, or a conjurer. Then you only have to deal with the one 1/2 of magic.
Elves get a max of 8 charisma. I personally stick with 5 to 6 to conserve points. I also wouldn't max Magic for the same reason.
Spell selection for faces should probably be Illusions, Detections, and Manipulations. You also need to think about the tradition/path you want. You resist drain depending on your tradition. If you are a "face" style mage, then you probably want to pick a tradition that uses Charisma. Each one has it's own perks and drawbacks. If you have the points left, you can also get a "Mentor Spirit" Which will give you additional positive and negative bonuses.
You can carry a gun for defense if you don't want to rely completely on magic, but for the same amount of points spent getting pistols to a useful level, you can have 2 or 3 spells. If you have the "Street Magic" source book, it has a ton of character type ideas.
Oh, and games are supposed to be advertised in the Wanted pages, not the game forum. So check there. ^)^

| Take a look at my character Allanah, she is effectivly a mage sniper. so with those two things in mind i focused on what would help her out. Illusion to keep her hidden, and manipulate to get her places she had to go. Than throw in some extra offensive magic just in case you run out of bullets.
Magic is all about what you want it to do, use your imagination, like have a guy with lighting bolt use throwing knives, nice little metal spikes sticking out of their chest, hehe. Its pretty much what you want it to do, than build it . | |

| So If I were A mystical Adept:
Would I have to split my Magic between Using spellcasting/summoning and My adept abilities?
How do I determine if I want to start out with A bound spirit?
Can my tradition really be anything? and I just say what its geared towards?
Also I'm basically using a shaman here. Do i need to focus on a specific type of mentor spirit? do I need a mentor spirit? | |

| in order of appearance:
1. yes, upon creation say you have 4 points of magic, you use two points for creating your adept powers, than you use the other two for spell casting and tests, etc., and when upgrading you decide whether you use it for adept powers or spells.
2. you use a bound spirit when you want a spirit to stick around for awhile, they can be created in game, or during creation, its up to you, otherwise most spirits have a time limit on how long they last, either till sunrise/set, or whenever.
3. your tradition is basically what you want it to be, effectivly its the magical equivalent to a personal religion, you choose what kind of spirits you can summon, how you resist drain, must be willpower + logic/intuition/or charisma, etc.
4. you don't need a mentor spirit, but for 5 bp they can help quite a bit and help round out your character.
Like i said before, your character is what you want it to be, you could have a character that is based around cats. Stealthy, sleek, charismatic, prissy little things that won't leave me alone when i sleep... What?!? Use your imagination and put it to good use. | |
