Character sheet to come at some point - I've got it mostly worked out on paper, but I need to recalculate a few things.
Background:
Nobody really would have expected Lin to become a 'runner. Born in a middle-class neighborhood in Hong Kong, her natural magnetism and open nature made a job choice easy, and at the age of 16, she signed on with a local Simsense producer as an actress. She did fairly well for the three years she worked there, and was quite happy with her lot, but it all came crashing down around her when a corporate deal undercut the company she worked with, and she found herself suddenly unemployed, with the landlord coming knocking. Desperately, she turned to the first job offer she could find for somebody with her talents - an offer that, in hindsight, looked to good to be true... and was. Arriving for what she thought was supposed to be a simsense audition, she found herself in the company of a Triad production team, who decided that she was their newest actress in the line of pornographic BTLs that their boss had them turning out. Hacking her simrig and hooking her on a few spare BTL chips they had handy to ensure her cooperation, they proceeded to keep her on-site for 9 months, turning out dozens of sims with her, ranging from vanilla porn to some extremely uncomfortable fetishes. To this day Lin isn't sure how long they would have kept using her, or what they would have done with her after they decided she was to worn out... luckily, she never had to find out; the facility was raided by a team of 'runners - who or what they were after Lin didn't know, but they popped open the door to her room, and she grabbed what she could - including a couple guns from downed Triad thugs - and fled. Knowing that the Triads would be after her for escaping their... hospitality, she hocked all the hardware she could, did a few turns as a Joygirl, and used the money to buy a seat on a Wuxing chartered flight to the UCAS.
Arriving in Seattle, she swore that she would never be helpless again, and started building up the money and skills to survive in the shadows. Now, two years later, she's started to make a name for herself in the shadows, and is almost unrecognizable from the quiet actress of her past... though she does still occasionally get recognized on the street by some fan - she usually doesn't mind, except for those who recognize her for her... later works, rather than the ones that she chose to do. She realizes that the Triads probably still haven't forgiven her leaving China, but she isn't overly worried about them any more - she can take care of herself now, and they aren't as strong on this side of the pacific.
A couple notes:
1) I would like to take the Enemy quality with the Triads... what rating would I get for that? They're extremely well connected, but I have no idea what to give them for an Incidence rating.
2) UCAS/Seattle could be replaced with somewhere else, if necessary... I saw no location descriptor in the first post, so I defaulted to Seattle.
